A Lee County grand jury has cleared Officer Jared Greer in an officer-involved shooting that happened in late 2015.

The Lee County District Attorney's office released the dashboard camera video of the incident on Wednesday afternoon.

The grand jury found no fault with Officer Greer's actions on the night of Oct. 31, 2015 during an attempted traffic stop, when Greer shot and killed 56-year old Bennie Tignor along Comancee Drive.

Officer Greer's dashcam video takes us back to the rainy night when he tried to pull over Tignor after a slow, seven-minute pursuit

Opelika police have stated that Tignor failed to comply with a traffic stop, resisted arrest, then brandished a gun before he was shot and killed by the officer.

Tignor's family believe the circumstances around his death were suspicious.

Investigators say the gun Tignor pulled on Officer Greer was recovered at the scene.

This month, after reviewing the video and the SBI's independent investigation, a grand jury found no fault with Officer Greer's actions and cleared him of any wrongdoing.

We are still waiting for a statement from Tignor's family.

Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller tells us Officer Greer has not been back on duty since he was cleared; however, the mayor does expect him to return to his patrol duties in the near future.

The State Bureau of Investigations conducted an independent investigation. The case, including the dash cam video, was presented to the grand jury.

The video has only been seen by a handful of police and city officials then the grand jury.
