Australian UFC star Jack Becker faces a lengthy recovery after suffering a gruesome leg injury at Eternal MMA 66 on Saturday.

Becker was looking to defend his lightweight title against Aidan Aguilera at HBF Stadium in Perth, when he broke his leg early in the first round.

Having absorbed a few leg kicks, the Australian threw one himself but has his foot made contact with Aguilera's leg, his ankle twisted.

The incident was reminiscent of the injury Anderson Silva suffered against Chris Weidman at UFC 168, when his leg snapped.

As Becker put both feet back down, his right leg immediately gave way and the 29-year-old crumpled to the floor with his leg snapped and the ankle pointing in an unnatural direction.

Becker, who entered the fight on the back of three straight wins, is considered one of the most promising fighters in Australia and New Zealand.
