Las Vegas, NV — On June 9, 2018 at approximately 10:48 a.m. detectives with the LVMPD Major Violators Unit were conducting surveillance on a robbery suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Shan Kittredge, who was suspected of being involved in eight armed robberies over the past two weeks. When Kittredge stopped at a convenience store on Blue Diamond Road and South Valley View Boulevard to get gas, detectives attempted to take him into custody.

Detectives positioned their vehicles in the front and rear of Kittredge’s vehicle to prevent his escape. They then gave commands to Kittredge to get down on the ground and he initially complied. Kittredge then jumped up and got back into his vehicle, and put the car in reverse, striking a Metro vehicle and almost striking a K9 officer. At that time, Sergeant Joseph Emery, who could see Kittredge raise a firearm and aim at officers, fired multiple rounds at Kittredge striking him several times. Medical personnel were immediately summoned and Kittredge was transported to University Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition. A firearm was recovered inside of Kittredge’s vehicle.

A female passenger who was with Kittredge was also taken into custody.
